Do Not Forget

Had a great time of worship this morning at my sister/bro-in-law’s church here in Tulsa, OK. Had the privilege of taking part in communion as a part of worship, which I really enjoyed. Not sure if we’ve been able to have communion since we’ve moved to Atlanta. We spent the good part of our first year finding a place to call home. And Browns Bridge, one of the NorthPoint communities that we attend regularly, doesn’t do communion that often (if at all).
To me, there is something bonding in taking part in something with so much history in the Church. I know that the way we do it, for the most part, bears little resemblance to how the first and second century Christians observed communion. To me, that doesn’t matter as much as the fact that we are practicing the same type of remembrance that they did on a regular basis.
“Do not forget,” were essentially the words spoken by Jesus to those early followers and one that I tend to struggle with.
I forget easily, in fact.
I get so caught up in the everyday minutia of life in general that it takes something that is ‘out of routine’ to kick-start my brain and spirit back into a place of reflection and appreciation. If I was honest, I’d have to say that I think little about the sacrifice of Christ on the cross and the every-minute implications it bears on my life.
But this morning I remembered and reflected. And I am better because of it.

What Are Thin Places?
"Thin Places" are rich in Celtic tradition. They are the places in our lives where the divine and the natural worlds come so close together that we can catch a glimpse of God. For the Celtics these places were very real - places within creation where we could physically go. The Thin Places in our own lives are those moments where the space between us & the Kingdom is thin, when we are introduced to a greater glimpse of Who He is through our experiences and through the stories of others.

LC.tv doesn’t really put a lot of emphasis on communion during the main experiences.. The elements are readily available, but I feel if you don’t talk about it why even bother?
There seems to be a whole lot of emphasis on baptism, but they are missing the sacrament that is the remembering of the work of the cross.
