Emerie’s Gift vs My Own
I picked up some flowers for Andrea and Emerie on Friday on the way home from work. Emerie picked out which one she wanted and then mom helped her prepare them for a vase to put in her room.
Tonight when I had finished reading her a story from her fairy tale book before bed, she picked off one of the flower buds and handed it to me, saying, “Daddy, this is for you.” She then ran into the bathroom, filled up a Dixie Cup with water, and brought it back into the room to put the bud in.
I snapped this picture with my phone because it struck me how like it is when I feel I have anything to offer my Father. He’s given me a full bouquet. I snap off a bud from time to time and hand it to him, beaming all the while at the greatness of my gift.
I don’t think He looks down on my gift with judgment. Nor does He try and remind me who gave the bouquet in the first place. If there’s even a trace of Him in me then I believe He probably responds the same way that I did tonight…
Smile and look in wonder and joy at the precious gift in front of me.

What Are Thin Places?
"Thin Places" are rich in Celtic tradition. They are the places in our lives where the divine and the natural worlds come so close together that we can catch a glimpse of God. For the Celtics these places were very real - places within creation where we could physically go. The Thin Places in our own lives are those moments where the space between us & the Kingdom is thin, when we are introduced to a greater glimpse of Who He is through our experiences and through the stories of others.
