Are You a Ball or a Bubble?
As I’ve mentioned previously, Josiah and I are spending some time each week hanging out together and working through some of the concepts found in the book Integrity by Dr. Henry Cloud. This week we began talking about how to build trust with others.
Trust is one of those difficult, but essential things in life. It’s not easy to attain, it fuels our relationships with others, and it is hard to regain if lost.
There are two different types of “Trust” people that we encounter in life…
- Those who repel others because of lack of trust
- Those who attract/connect with others because of trust
Think about it… Let’s say you have a work project/school assignment that is critical - perhaps one that the future success of the company or half your grade in a subject depends on. You’re encouraged to find someone else to partner with for the work. Who do you seek out? Who do you avoid?
We either act as billiard balls or bubbles when it comes to trust and people.
Billiard Balls repel/bounce other people away because of a lack of trust. The connection can even be painful and one that leaves a mark that is hard to remove.
Bubbles easily connect with others because of trust. When they encounter others they easily attach themselves and become something greater than they were alone.
Which are you? When the project/assignment comes to someone else you work with/go to school with, do they seek you out? Or do they avoid eye contact and avoid you?
Ultimately, if we are going to achieve success, we must connect with and work with others in a way that is bigger than ourselves. And it all begins with trust.

What Are Thin Places?
"Thin Places" are rich in Celtic tradition. They are the places in our lives where the divine and the natural worlds come so close together that we can catch a glimpse of God. For the Celtics these places were very real - places within creation where we could physically go. The Thin Places in our own lives are those moments where the space between us & the Kingdom is thin, when we are introduced to a greater glimpse of Who He is through our experiences and through the stories of others.
