I Want to Be the Pleasant Surprise

I’m amazed by people who under-deliver.
It seems like a week doesn’t go by where I don’t encounter someone doing their work half-assed. Many times the “friendly associates” are anything but friendly. Other times the expectations I bring, even when they are low, are largely left unmet.
Maybe I was raised differently, but when I’m given a job to do I want to do it with excellence. What comes from my hands is a reflection of my name, and of who I am (and Whose I am). Irregardless of what preconceived notions people have of me, I want to over-deliver.
For those who expect something from me…
I want them to be pleasantly surprised by how much more I gave.
For those who don’t expect much from me…
I want them to be pleasantly surprised by what I actually bring.
I want to be the exception in a world of mediocrity.

What Are Thin Places?
"Thin Places" are rich in Celtic tradition. They are the places in our lives where the divine and the natural worlds come so close together that we can catch a glimpse of God. For the Celtics these places were very real - places within creation where we could physically go. The Thin Places in our own lives are those moments where the space between us & the Kingdom is thin, when we are introduced to a greater glimpse of Who He is through our experiences and through the stories of others.

For me, you are still the pleasant surprise. You are not easily offended or angered and you have abundant lovingkindness. I know more about who God is and how He loves because of you.
