It Gets Better With Age
My dad and Cheryl flew into town today. This is a week we’ve been looking to for a few months now (I think they actually grabbed their tickets back at the end of April - before you had to sell a baby to fill up your gas tank). They’re here for a whole week. I have the entire week off from work. I’m loving it!
We all rode the MARTA down to the airport to pick them up, then grabbed some Armando’s cuban food before heading home to good coffee and conversation. I have to say that each year that I get older the more I appreciate my dad and enjoy time with him. Maybe it’s because I’m maturing. Maybe it’s because he’s maturing. I’m betting that it’s both.
I’d honestly have to say that life continues to get better with each passing day. My relationship with dad is better than it ever has been. My beautiful wife and I will celebrate 13 years of marriage on Tuesday, and I love her more than ever. I love what I do and where I live (although I’d love to be closer to family and friends).
And I don’t think it is because life is necessarily coming at me rosier than ever. The challenges of being a dad are more challenging than ever. I haven’t been pushed as much as I am with this job in certain ways. No, life isn’t all smoother sailing, but I certainly enjoy it more.
What about you? How’s life treating you lately? How has becoming older affected how you view life?

What Are Thin Places?
"Thin Places" are rich in Celtic tradition. They are the places in our lives where the divine and the natural worlds come so close together that we can catch a glimpse of God. For the Celtics these places were very real - places within creation where we could physically go. The Thin Places in our own lives are those moments where the space between us & the Kingdom is thin, when we are introduced to a greater glimpse of Who He is through our experiences and through the stories of others.
