It’s Always Day One
Anytime you can bottle up some of what makes a successful company successful, it’s good. When you can hear the founder drop “what he knows” into 3-4 phrases and explain them to you - it’s gold.
This past week Amazon.com & Zappos, probably the world’s biggest online shoe store, announced that they had joined forces. Amazon was investing in what they saw in Zappos and the future of where they saw the company headed.
As a part of the announcement, Amazon.com founder & CEO, Jeff Bezos, posted a short, 8-minute video, to Zappos employees explaining “What He Knows” and about the days ahead. You can see the full video below.
As I was watching, a few things stood out to me - the greatest of which was the statement, “It’s always Day One.” It’s a mentality that is at the core of who Amazon.com and how they approach business. It’s the belief that today is not the destination, nor is it even just a stop on the journey. Today is the start of what’s ahead.
How much impact could you/your business/your organization make if you approach this day with the same mentality?

What Are Thin Places?
"Thin Places" are rich in Celtic tradition. They are the places in our lives where the divine and the natural worlds come so close together that we can catch a glimpse of God. For the Celtics these places were very real - places within creation where we could physically go. The Thin Places in our own lives are those moments where the space between us & the Kingdom is thin, when we are introduced to a greater glimpse of Who He is through our experiences and through the stories of others.
