It’s the Simple Things That Make Us Smile
(Visit chrisediger.com to view the video…)
Sometimes we over-complicate things.
I’m incredibly guilty of this. My life can easily slip down the over-connected/over-technological slope if I’m not careful. But then I’m reminded that it’s really the simple things that fascinate us… that make us smile.
Don’t believe me? Hand anyone a sheet of bubble wrap and see what happens.
I found a great blog that highlights this exact phenomenon. It’s called “1000 Awesome Things.” Here’s some simple things that make us smile according to the site:
- #714 Changing the channel during a commercial break and then flipping back just as the show’s coming back on
- #724 Placing the last piece of the puzzle
- #770 Grabbing the cereal bowl with both hands and slurping up all the sugary milk
- #828 Remembering what movie that guy is from
- #921 Snow days
- #997 Locking people out of the car and pretending to drive away
What about you? What are some simple things that make you smile?

What Are Thin Places?
"Thin Places" are rich in Celtic tradition. They are the places in our lives where the divine and the natural worlds come so close together that we can catch a glimpse of God. For the Celtics these places were very real - places within creation where we could physically go. The Thin Places in our own lives are those moments where the space between us & the Kingdom is thin, when we are introduced to a greater glimpse of Who He is through our experiences and through the stories of others.
