My Favorite iPhone Apps (of the Moment)
I’ve been playing around with probably close to a hundred iPhone apps over the last month or so since they became available. Most have come and gone, but there are several that I’ve found that are definite keepers. Here are a few of my favorite iPhone apps of the moment:
* A Disclaimer: I haven’t bit the bullet and purchased any apps yet. All of these are freely available to download and use.
Twitterrific
From the makers of the popular OS X desktop Twitter tool, Twitterrific is an iPhone Twitter tool that allows you to keep up with your Tweets on the go. Slick interface, and very user friendly, I probably use this tool as much as any other on my phone. I was so impressed with their iPhone app, I’ve downloaded the desktop version and am using it as well!
Facebook
The web-based Facebook app was the heralded baby for Steve Jobs and Apple’s web-based apps push last year. Not they’ve taken the best of that tool, thrown in some new functionalities (including Facebook real-time chat built-in), and released the official Facebook app. Definitely worth a download if you use Facebook at all.
Bible App
LifeChurch.tv has brought over 15 versions of the Bible to users for free. But that’s just the start. They’ve also tapped into the popular YouVersion.com online Bible tool to bring collaborations and shared notes on passages as well. I’ve been using a pay web-based iPhone Bible for close to a year and this may just unseat it for me.
Apple Remote
This is hands-down my favorite iPhone app. It allows you to control your iTunes library on your computer, or your Apple TV, remotely using your phone. This is awesome for me as it allows me to crank up my Apple TV and switch tunes coming out our home theater system from anywhere in the house!
Shazam
This is one of those “I wonder what this app does” downloads that has found a permanent place on my iPhone. It allows you to tap a button, “listen” to a song (from your radio, the TV, an elevator, the store, etc.) and it will tell you what the song is, who it is buy, and what album it is from. It even gives you links to purchase the song via iTunes as well as any videos on YouTube related to the song.
These are just a few of the apps I use on the regular basis. Later this week I’ll post other apps that I’ve found that are good, but that I don’t necessarily use all the time.
What about you? Have an iPhone or iPod Touch? What apps have you found that are great?

What Are Thin Places?
"Thin Places" are rich in Celtic tradition. They are the places in our lives where the divine and the natural worlds come so close together that we can catch a glimpse of God. For the Celtics these places were very real - places within creation where we could physically go. The Thin Places in our own lives are those moments where the space between us & the Kingdom is thin, when we are introduced to a greater glimpse of Who He is through our experiences and through the stories of others.
